I am asked almost on a daily basis if a potential customer can come to my home and check out the puppies in their “natural environment”. My answer is always the same…NO!
I have friends who are breeders who have welcomed the general public into their home and the people who showed up are disgusting junkies, potential thieves and my family quite frankly has a right to privacy. While you enjoy having access to me 24/7 this is a service I offer every single customer I also value my family’s right to privacy. Tell me, would your husband or young children appreciate having strangers traipse through their house looking over everything?
When I buy a car, a couch, stove etc I do not expect to be allowed to go see the salesman's home. Think about it. I mean really think about it. No, you negative person, I’m not trying to compare buying furniture with buying a puppy because I do believe puppies are a part of someone’s family. I’m just showing you the illogical thoughts associated with everyone thinking that they have a right to violate my family’s privacy. Y ou have a job I presume, what if every potential client/resident/customer/patient expected and felt a right to view your home. I think you can appreciate that my family's health and safety comes before your need to see.
SO, if after reading this you are not comfortable buying a dog from me I understand. Look elsewhere you will not find cuter, healthier puppies anywhere. My adults are treated like family and are not all shackled up in cages for their lives. Don’t just go look at the puppy if the breeder offers you; ask to see the breeding parents where they are housed. That is the answer to whether the person is a puppy mill. How do they treat their adult dog? If you have questions about any breed feel free to contact me anytime. You can contact me even if it isn't one of my precious babies you are considering. I will be glad to help you pick your new family member even if it is not from me. Go look at my adoptions pages, read my guest book. Those speak louder than a mere trample in my family’s home.
Some might say if I don't allow you into my home I must have something to hide. Nothing to hide here, but a family that needs respect and a right to privacy. When you are a breeder the puppies take over your lives. We all eat, sleep, and talk puppies and miss many meals. A lot of family outings etc have been canceled or I have had to excuse myself to offer you the 24/7 service. I in return expect you to respect the sanctity of my home. No breeder is going to allow you into their nurseries to view the puppies. You are carrying germs and put their puppies and new Mom's at risk. SO, if you call a breeder and they say "Sure come on over" you are going to be allowed into a living room anyway. IF a breeder allows you to go to their puppy area keep moving along. That breeder is putting her precious puppies at risk. Parvo is the #1 killer of puppies and I just will not allow any exposure to my dogs. You can of course judge for yourself. People judge anyway and my need to sell you a dog doesn't outweigh my puppy’s health either. So, to recap. No you can't come to my house. Yes you do have access to me 24/7 for the life of your dog.
24/7 Puppy support. Ask your breeder for it.
So, as long as your dog lives you can call me about anything related to that dog anytime you want. Trust me, the need to see my house does not exceed the services I offer. Happy puppy buying. Our puppies change lives.
