YorkiChi's

YorkiChi. Is it the right dog for me?

YorkiChi€™s are fantastic house mates. In making this designer dog we have combinedthe purebred Chihuahua's loyalty and protectiveness with the purebred Yorkshire Terriers bravery and intelligence. A YorkiChi offers loads of fun and friendship to any family or to an individual. They are good pets/friends for almost any situation. Curious and zestful  for the outdoors and can serve as your best friend inside as well.

YorkiChi’s are great city dogs and I bred them initially for apartment dwellers who wanted the personality and look of the purebred Yorkie but not the hard to potty train purebred, the cross where you get the best from both breeds.  YorkiChi€™s are playful and great with children. They don€™t think they own you and are much more friendly by the cross. they may be slightly wary of strangers and other pets.

Things You Should  Know

The YorkiChi can live as long as 15-17  years. Being a hybrid  they have been bred so that they will suffer from fewer genetic health issues.  Keep in mind that the YorkiChi is small and more fragile than a purebred Yorkie is depending on the length of coat, YorkiChi’s  should be brushed anywhere from every day to every week. Bathe only when necessary.  Over bathing your dog will give it dry skin and a new problem.

The YorkiChi is an excellent apartment dog, not requiring  too much space to feel comfortable. But it should have a daily walk to satisfy its curiosity, its need for fresh air and its exercise requirements. Going for a car ride is a huge deal for these little dogs. They are curious and love to see new things. Keep their brains working and active. The YorkiChi's are HIGHLY intelligent dogs.

History
The YorkiChi if bred properly should  (bred from the Chihuahua and the Yorkshire Terrier) originated from one of several hybrid dogs that became popular during the late 1990s. According to active YorkiChi  breeders, the YorkiChi’s positive energy and solid health comes from "hybrid vigor," which is when a healthier dog results from the crossing of two purebreds. I know that I have researched genetic faults in both breeds to make sure that by combining them I was in fact making a healthier puppy with less health issues and a better personality.

What does one of my YorkiChi look like you wonder?
The YorkiChi  "look" can vary, depending upon the parents that I use. The Chihuahua's short coat may offset the Yorkie's long coat; however, if I breed a longhaired Chihuahua this could create a longhaired or furry YorkiChi  in a wide range of colors and color combinations. The YorkiChi has a nicely rounded head with dark, expressive eyes and a dark, button nose. Sometimes the ears hang low, and sometimes they are erect. Their delicate, square frames look like they could easily snuggle in the crook of your arm. They are the best snuggler€™s and are in my opinion the best cross that I make.
